Review: LA Jazz Scene

…..Keyboardist Mark Etheredge has a new CD ready to hit the streets on February 26th. He’s accompanied on Connected by drummer Gorden Campbell, bassist Roberto Vally and percussionist Richie Garcia. The CD, on Vipaka Records was produced by two-time Grammy winner Paul Brown, who also plays electric guitar on two tunes. Other stellar contributions came from Greg Vail-sax, Chuck Loeb-guitar, Andy Suzuki-tenor sax, Lee Thornburg-trumpet. They all work through contemporary tunes that capture Etherege’s talent on the Hammond B3 and Wurlitzer on “Soul Clap Honey,” “Grooving With My Baby,” “Lost in the Shuffle” and other Etheredge compositions. He calls this project “…Connected is a celebration of our human connection-across geography, race, language, class, gender, sexual orientation and beliefs.”Etheredge relocated from the Bay area to L.A. two years ago to concentrate on his musical journey here. Good choice, because we think that L.A. has the most talented musicians in the world! Etheredge will be performing at Spaghettini next month and returns to the Bay area for a gig at Angelicas in March. For more info check out www.MarkEtheredge.com ……… - LA Jazz Scene
